How Flavia Became Part of The Lavazza Group

For generations, Lavazza and Flavia have been sharing their passion for coffee, nurturing their family legacies, and refining their drink expertise—first separately and now as one.

1895 | Luigi Lavazza opens a small grocery store in Turin, Italy, where he discovers the concept of blending different coffee beans from around the world to create unique tastes.

1927 | Luigi, his wife, and three children found Luigi Lavazza ompany.

1982 | Mars Drinks, another family-owned business, launches the world’s first single-serve coffee system with the Filterpack—the predecessor of today’s Freshpack.

1989 | Filterpacks are brought together with a new generation of brewers, and the Flavia® brand is born.

By 2001 | Over 2 billion Freshpacks have been sold.

By 2005 | That number climbs to 3 billion.

2018 | Flavia® becomes an official extension of Lavazza North America Inc.
